Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment Group, owner of Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Feud, The Comedy Barn Theater, Magic Beyond Belief and The Smoky Mountain Opry in Pigeon Forge, TN is looking for multiple Technical Directors for its different theaters. Are you a team player with a winning attitude?  Do you enjoy having fun in your work and using your skill set to its full potential?  If so, we need to hear from you! The Technical Director reports directly to the GM of the individual theater.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Bidding out scenic design and construction
  • Maintaining departmental budgets
  • Purchasing materials and equipment
  • Technical drafting
  • Coordination with production department heads
  • Working with guest designers
  • Overseeing all rigging and safety training set forth by senior management
  • Coordinating for production load-ins & strikes
  • Overseeing safety protocols for the theatre set forth by Senior Management


  • Creating and maintaining all show bibles established by the GM, Creative Team and Senior Management


  • Identify and define creative and technical requirements, coordinate with vendors and consultants, ensure that Tech teams are cross trained with the project team for the following:
    • Audio
    • Video/Projection
    • Digital Video & Signage
    • Show Control
    • Show Lighting
    • Special Effects
    • Rigging
    • Show Action Equipment
    • Pyrotechnics, fireworks, and flame systems
  • Show back of house support requirements
  • Performer and staff back of house support requirements
  • Company-wide systems requirements
  • Regularly update the VP of Operations as to the technical team's performance, show support, technical solutions, vendor management, budget and schedule compliance.
  • Work with Production/Stage Managers to ensure safe and on-time openings and ongoing operations.
  • Provide hands-on oversight in the production and fabrication efforts for the project.



  • Five (5) or more years in Theatre, Concert or Theme Park attraction development.
  • Firsthand experience and/or exposure to managing Show Technical Production efforts at the community theatre level or higher
  • Advanced audio and or lighting expertise for technical support of hardware, applications, operating systems, networking and rigging as related to show production as well as training oversight.
  • Strong firsthand knowledge of compliance to industry recognized standards, performance specifications, local NFPA standards, state and local laws and local code compliance
  • The ability to work as a team in a busy environment with a minimum of conflict.
  • Ability to work to deadlines in occasional high-pressure situations.
  • Team leadership, ability to manage through others to accomplish team goals and objectives
  • Strong computer skill and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Pro. AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand design and engineering drawings including: Architectural, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, Lighting, Audio/Video, Show Set, Animation, and Electronic Controls.
  • The ability to take direction and accountability
  • Language Skills: English (speak/read/write)

Working knowledge of: Quelab Show Control, Madrix LED Controllers, Medialon Show Control and Weigl Animatronic Controls a PLUS.
